Everything new at École Polytechnique in January 2018.

Thank you to everyone who applied for the 2018 PhD Mobility Grant! The competition was particularly strong this year and we received a number of high quality proposals.

Among those highly qualified applicants, we are pleased to announce the 14 selected recipients! 

The Columbia Institute for Ideas and Imagination will open its doors in Paris in fall 2018. Its annual cohort will comprise seven Columbia University faculty fellows and seven fellows - scholars, writers and creative artists -  from outside the USA. Its purpose is to question the established ways in which knowledge is defined, produced, and taught.

Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University welcomes Professor LynNell Hancock from the Columbia University, who has been selected for a teaching visit during the forthcoming spring semester. In addition to teaching one lecture, course or seminar in her field, Professor Hancock will also be supporting the Alliance Program as one of our Ambassadors by meeting colleagues and participating in a series of seminars and conferences.

We at Alliance are proud to introduce or new Director, Emmanuel Kattan. Prior to joining Alliance, Emmanuel was Director of the British Council in New York, where he oversaw academic collaboration programs. He created partnerships with the Henry Luce Foundation and the Carnegie Corporation to launch initiatives connecting higher education institutions across the Atlantic.

A native of Montreal, Emmanuel studied politics in Oxford as a Rhodes scholar and earned a PhD from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris.

The purpose of Sorbonne Sustainable Development  is to train a new generation of researchers and decision-makers that will have the disciplinary expertise and the interdisciplinary knowledge fit to address and solve the societal challenges posed by sustainable development.

The Alliance Program DEADLINE for Visiting Professors, Joint Projects, and Trilateral Initiatives in Emerging Regions is on July 21, 2017.

École Polytechnique and its accelerator X-Up were present from June 15 to June 17 at the VivaTechnology fair in Paris. It was an opportunity to discover start-ups of its fifth promotion and see those that came by Polytechnique in recent years.
