Columbia University Provost and Students Meet French President Emmanuel Macron to Mark Launch of Lafayette Fellowship
On Tuesday, September 23, His Excellency Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, visited Villa Albertine, the French Institute for Culture and Education in New York to discuss the launch of the Lafayette Fellowship, a new higher education initiative celebrating 250 years of French-American friendship and fostering the next generation of transatlantic leaders.
The program commenced with a welcome address by Mohamed Bouabdallah, Cultural Counselor of France in the US and Director of Villa Albertine, followed by remarks by President Emmanuel Macron and a dialogue between the President and students from Columbia Universities and other US universities. Several University officials were invited to participate in the event, including Provost Angela V. Olinto.
The Lafayette Fellowship was recently launched by the Embassy of France in the United States, Villa Albertine, the French Institute for Culture and Education, and France Science. It offers fellowships to American students wishing to enroll in a Master Program at a number of leading French universities. The deadline for applications is November 30th.
