2025: 80th Anniversary of the Founding of the United Nations and the End of the Second World War
The French Permanent Mission of France to the United Nations hosted an event organized as part of a series of international conferences initiated by Sorbonne University, Columbia University, and European University Viadrina.
Dedicated to the lessons learned from the post-war period and the future of the multilateral system, this program aims to strengthen dialogue between academics and diplomats.
The discussion was opened by Jérôme Bonnafont, Permanent Representative of France to the United Nations, and continued with two panels bringing together scholars and the Permanent Representatives of Costa Rica 🇨🇷 and Morocco 🇲🇦, for a rich dialogue on the future of multilateralism.
The debates, moderated by journalist Sherwin Bryce-Pease, provided an opportunity to combine academic analyses and diplomatic perspectives.
The goal: to build a renewed multilateralism, faithful to the spirit of the United Nations Charter, consistent with the evolution of international relations, attentive to the growing importance of global issues, and ensuring every country has a voice.

La French Mission permanente de la France auprès des Nations Unies a accueilli un événement organisé dans le cadre d’un cycle de conférences internationales initié par Sorbonne Université, Columbia University et European-University Viadrina.
Consacré aux leçons tirées de l’après-guerre et à l’avenir du système multilatéral, ce programme vise à renforcer le dialogue entre universitaires et diplomates.
L’échange a été ouvert par Jérôme Bonnafont, Représentant permanent de la France auprès des Nations Unies, avant de se poursuivre autour de deux panels réunissant universitaires et les représentants permanents du Costa Rica 🇨🇷 et du Maroc 🇲🇦, pour un dialogue riche sur l’avenir du multilatéralisme.
Les débats, modérés par le journaliste Sherwin Bryce-Pease, ont permis de croiser analyses académiques et perspectives diplomatiques.
Pour construire un multilatéralisme renouvelé, fidèle à l’esprit de la Charte des Nations Unies, et en cohérence avec l’évolution des relations internationales, avec l’importance prise par les enjeux globaux, et la place à donner à chaque pays.
