The Doctoral Co-Direction Grant supports a doctoral candidate in establishing a co-director relationship with a faculty member at one of Alliance's partner institutions, alongside their thesis supervisor at their home institution.

One (1) project will be funded with a maximum limit of $8,000.

Award: The grant consists of two components, each capped at $4,000:

• Candidate travel grant (up to $4,000). Supports travel and related costs for the candidate to work in person with the co-director at the partner institution. May be used for a single stay or divided across multiple visits.
• Co-director defense support (up to $4,000). Covers travel and accommodation for the co-director to attend the candidate's thesis defense in person.

Co-direction under this grant does not lead to a degree from the partner institution and does not alter the candidate's primary university affiliation, registration, or degree requirements. It provides the candidate with sustained guidance from a second scholar, whose expertise complements that of the home supervisor, over the remaining course of the doctoral project.
