James Buckley is a PhD candidate in the History Department at Columbia University. His research centers upon the mutual development of humanist scholarship and political ideas in early modern Europe, particularly the ways in which both were informed by new conceptions of knowledge. James holds a BA in History and English from the University of Illinois Chicago and an MA and MPhil in History from Columbia University.
