Living in the region had become very difficult and the Ughettos dream of a better life abroad. Legend has it that Luigi Ughetto crossed the Alps to start a new life in France, thus changing the destiny of his beloved family forever. His grandson travels back in time revisiting their history.

No Dogs or Italians Allowed is an evocative stop-motion animation, and a personal story for its animator and director, Alain Ughetto, who drew inspiration from his ancestors’ experiences. The film beautifully captures the struggles of guest workers, their unwavering determination to improve their lives, and the enduring xenophobia that haunts migrant communities to this day. It is no wonder that the film won the European Film Award for Best Animated Film in Europe.
